Anyone who works a full-time job can probably tell you that getting through the week can feel almost like a job of its own. By the time Friday rolls around, many people find themselves gazing out the window, anticipating the weekend.
If you’re someone who struggles with time-management and work-related stress, here are some tips for powering through the workweek and increasing productivity.
Make A To-Do List.
A good rule of thumb for prioritizing your workweek is to create a to-do list at the beginning of the week. Creating a to-do list on a Sunday night, for example, can help you map out the upcoming week and assess what you will need to accomplish. Doing this will help you know what you will be facing rather than being blindsided during the workweek. You can do this by using a planner to keep track of important dates and tasks, as well as any meetings or work events you might have. Creating a physical to-do list that you can refer to every day can be extremely helpful in planning out your week and keeping track of your workload.
Fuel Your Brain.
What you choose to eat throughout the day can really affect your productivity and mental clarity, so make sure you’re choosing healthy snacks that will give your brain the fuel it needs to get through a busy workweek. Things like nuts, dried fruit, and veggie chips are all healthy snack options that will satisfy your cravings and give you the energy you need to get through the day. If you typically reach for a less healthy snack like potato chips, try substituting baked chips instead. If you can’t go a day without snacking on some milk chocolate, try dark chocolate as a healthier alternative. Not only will you feel better, but you won’t feel as sluggish and groggy than you would if you ate an unhealthy snack.
Organize Your Workspace.
Having a cluttered workspace can be extremely distracting and can make it difficult to concentrate, so try decluttering your space for a fresh, new look. If your desk typically has a lot of papers and documents scattered on top of it, consider purchasing inexpensive organizational supplies, like folders, paper trays, and filing cabinets. In addition to this, you can add small touches to your workspace, like a new lamp or plant, to brighten up your space and give it a fresh feel. Organizing and revamping your workspace can make a world of difference in increasing your productivity and overall mood.
Get Some Fresh Air.
Oftentimes, being cooped up inside all day can make us feel lethargic and uninspired, which is why it’s so important to step outside of the office at some point during the day and get some fresh air. Even just taking a brisk walk around the block can be a huge mood booster and improve your performance when you get back to the office. Daily physical activity is a crucial component in overall physical and mental health, so the next time you’re feeling lethargic at work, go on a walk around the block and see how much better you feel!
