Misconceptions About Mobile Websites

web_development

It is a shame to see the fact that most site owners do not actually understand much about mobile websites and about the importance of having a site that is perfectly optimized for mobile browsing. This is due to the fact that many site owners do not have much knowledge about webs development. It is normal. After all, it is why people tend to hire other professionals to get the work done for them. We all have our area of expertise and not all know web development.

Getting back to the subject at hand, mobile websites are nowadays much different than what we used to see just a few years ago. They are much more advanced and we basically have responsive website design replacing the regular mobile sites developed some years ago.

While the mobile sites were effective, they did present many problems and did make work a lot harder than it should be. The responsive sites did solve most of the problems that appeared in the past.

However, many misconceptions still remain, including the really common ones mentioned below:

Mobile Websites Are The Same As Responsive Websites.

This is completely incorrect. A mobile website was basically a new version of a site, one that was developed for mobile users with limited design features and content included. Responsive web design is a way of designing the same site in a way that it will look in a good way on both mobile devices and on desktop computers.

The modern approach is to use responsive websites instead of mobile websites. This is definitely much better and the only downfall is that creating responsive sites is much more complicated. This is a process that should only be done by a professional.

Mobile Websites Are Really Expensive.

This is another quite common misconception. The truth is that changing a site and making the design become responsive, perfect for mobile users, is expensive. However, if the design is properly optimized from the start, this is not a problem. In fact, the prices associated with creating a responsive website from scratch are lower than the money you had to pay in the past to develop a brand new mobile site. That is something that made responsive sites accessible for practically all businesses.

It Does Not Matter If Your Site Is Mobile Friendly.

Unfortunately, there is a growing number of individuals that think it is not important if a site is mobile friendly or not because they have clients that would use computers in order to make purchases. Such a way of thinking is unproductive due to the fact that we see a constant growth in mobile device users at the moment. This practically means that there is an increase in the number of people that use mobile gadgets to browse the internet. Search engines are now using this information and rank sites that are mobile friendly higher than the other ones. With this in mind, you should never actually have a site online that does not have responsive design since it means that you lose money.
